From the desk of the District Hearing ChairmanHEARING PROGRAM The program is a Council of Governors designated Statewide Program. The District Hearing Chairman administers the district responsibilities of the program. You provide hearing aids to people that cannot get assistance from any other source. The application requires income, asset, and family information that must be protected per state and federal privacy laws. The Wisconsin Lions Foundation co-ordinates the program and provides the hearing aid. The Foundation funding is from the collection of used hearing aids and donations to the Foundation Hearing Program. The Foundation General Fund budgets additional funds for program when the other funds are exhausted. The hearing aid manufacturer issues dollar credits from the used hearing aids to the Foundation. The District pays a Hearing Professional a $200 fee to write the prescription, make an ear mold, order the hearing aid, install and adjust the aid, and provide service during the one year warranty. The District Hearing Fund is supported by donation only. Hearing Conservation Chair
